High Impact IP is an intellectual property research firm founded in 2003 by Bruce Nappi in Weston Massachusetts.   The focus of doing technology reports based on patents started in the fall of 2003.   Mr. Nappi was asked to research the technical foundation for RFID systems for a startup company.   Not finding this information in any convenient form, he set out to pull it together himself.   Because of the extensive patent information in this area, it soon became a significant effort.   He developed custom software to simplify the many steps involved and particularly the very tedious task of translating patents into technical English.   Observing that he had encountered similar difficulty for years finding this kind of information for other startup companies, he decided to set up a company to do it on an ongoing basis.
