RFID 2004 The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) field has exploded in recent years. This is reflected in both commercial activity and patent activity. Between 1970 and 2003, 1256 patents have been issued which contain the specific term “RFID”. Of these, 776 (62%) were issued in the last four years. Note well, however, 22% of these U.S. patents went to foreign firms! Mostly in Germany and Japan. The new report, RFID 2004, has just been released. It is a 750+ page blockbuster report that captures and analyzes the substance of RFID patents issued before December 31, 2003. The report covers 4300+ patents listing patent numbers, issue dates and patent titles. For 500+ patents issued in 2003, there is additional detailed analysis of technical issues, assignees, inventors and attorneys. The extensive material is summarized in multiple maps, graphs, tables and outlines. The report even includes English language translations of technical patents. Why do you need this?If you get involved with new RFID products and any patent related issues, the report can save you a lot of money and time. For about the cost of one day's legal effort, you get the results of over 6 months of work. And, if you did take 6 months to research this material on your own, what do you think your competitors would be doing while you did it? Sitting around? Here are some examples of how different users can benefit from the report. Corporations developing RFID products
