Table – Number of US Patent Assignees by State in 2003

This table shows U.S. states and the number of individual patent assignees who were issued RFID related patents in 2003.  Each assignee is counted only once, even if they had multiple patents.

The table shows xxx U.S. firms were assigned RFID related patents in 2003.  There were actually yyy distinct firm names.  Some companies had facilities in multiple states.  Each state with a facility is credited separately.

The largest player by far was xxxxxx with xxxx% of the firms.  This was more than 3 times the number of the next state.  All other states had xx% or fewer firms.

This map shows the number of RFID related patents assigned to companies in 2003 on a state by state basis.  No patents were assigned in states with no numbers.  Multiple patents may have been assigned to a single company.  In this map, each of these is counted.

This graph shows the number of U.S. RFID patents assigned by State in 2003.  Only states with patent assignments are shown.

This graph shows U.S. states and the number of individual RFID related patent assignments made to firms in that state in 2003.  An assignment is a legal grant for a firm to make and sell a product protected by an issued patent.  Specifically, in this case, the assignment was made at time of issue of the patent.  Some firms in a state had multiple assignments.  In this graph, each state is credited for each assignment.
